EL POMAR YOUTH IN COMMUNITY SERVICE
El Pomar Youth in Community
Service is a leadership experience that teaches students the importance
of
service, philanthropy and nonprofit sector, while empowering them to directly
impact communities through grant making.
EPYCS at LHS has a goal
of raising $500. So far, the members have raised around $350 through the
Penny War fundraiser. When they reach $500, they are granted $7,500 from
the EPYCS foundation
in Colorado Springs.
The club members will choose Larimer county and Loveland organizations
to give grants totaling $8,000.
Organizations that meet
the criteria of contributing to the community through
education, recreation and sports apply for these grants.
Members are now in the process of opening letters of requests.
This is a student directed program. EPYCS allows all interested individuals
to participate.
The students will make any final decisions.
EPYCS is a fun and easy way of helping out the community.
The faculty advisor is a
facilitator only.
