Teen Challenges and Choices:

Teen Challenges and Choice students will:
- Recognize and accept responsibility for individual choices.
- Study teen sexuality while utilizing the (Baby Think it Over activity).
- Identify causes for and effects of family crisis.
Life Management
.5 credit, 1 semester
Life Management students will:
- Develop/practice independent living skills.
- Analyze behaviors that contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
- Select housing, roommate arrangement.
- Examine financial management skills needed by young adults.
Relationships
.5 credit, 1 semester
Relationship Students will:
- Evaluate aspects of long term relationships, communications and family planning.
Food Science I & II:
.5 credit, 1 semester
Food Science students will:
- Explore food preparation, safety, diet plans, nutrition principles & systems.
- Participate in lab experiences for food preparation.
Catering:
1 credit, 1 year
Catering students will:
Create menus to meet customers demand,
Select, use and maintain food production equipment,
Practice culinary practices
Establish a student run catering business.
Housing and Interior Design I & II
1 semester each class
.5 credit per course, dual credit possible
Courses: HD I: #8008, HD II: #8009.
Housing/Interior Design students will:
- Learn uses of the elements and principles of design.
- Create a basic design model.
- Demonstrate business procedures.
- Evaluate housing/interior furnishings.
- Analyze architectural and furniture design.
- Explore career options.
- Demonstrate business/career procedures.
Textile Studies
.5 credit, 1 semester
Textile students will:
- Explore designers, fashion, skincare & makeup techniques, and the history of fashion.
Early Childhood Education 101 & 102:
1 semester each class
.5 credit per course, 3 transcribed college credits offered
Courses: ECE 101: #8012, ECE 102: #8013
Explore career paths related to early childhood professions.
Participate in the “Buddy Up” program at the local
preschools.
Study the developmental progression of children.
Explore early childhood care and education models.
Apply the universal core values to the needs of children.
Consumer and Family Work Experience (CFWE)
3 credits

Gain valuable work experience, develop skills and competencies that will help you succeed in career areas. Plus, earn 3 credits and paycheck.
CFWE students will:
- Learn practical skills and explore career options in the fastest growing
occupation areas, the service industry.
This includes: food service, geriatrics,
child care, housing/interior/floral design, cosmetology, hospitality,
fashion,
textiles, health related fields.
Become an employee at a local business.
- Receive school credit and a paycheck.
- Gain valuable work experience, develop skills and
competencies that
will be helpful in succeeding in thesecareer areas.
Intro to Teaching:
1 year, 1 credit.
6 University of Northern Colorado credits offered with a B or better.
