Todd Ball, Principal

I am very excited to be at Loveland High School. LHS has a rich tradition and history of excellence. I am fortunate to be an alumni member of LHS and I have a deep sense of pride in this school. I was also fortunate to coach at Loveland High School in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I will do my very best to continue and strengthen this great school.

My background in education takes me through a twenty-two year journey in the Thompson School District. I started in the district teaching science at Thompson Valley High School and Bill Reed Middle School. I ended up teaching at Bill Reed Middle School for the next 11 years.

I did take a one year leave from Bill Reed to teach at CSU in the Education Department. My duties included teaching classes and supervising student teachers at high schools in the area such as Rocky Mountain, Poudre, Fort Collins and Thompson Valley High Schools. In every step of my journey I truly enjoyed the art of teaching.

At this point in my career an opportunity arose for me to join a group of teacher leaders from the Thompson School District to join a master’s program in educational leadership. At the end of this program I also gained principal licensure. I applied for the assistant principal position at Bill Reed Middle School and began my administrative career. Two years later I became the head principal of Bill Reed Middle School. Eight years later I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to join Loveland High School.

Although locations have changed, I want everyone to know that I love what I do, I enjoy working with people, and I believe in doing my very best to help students be successful.
Rick Frei

Loveland High School is a leader in education – leading the way in preparing students for the 21st Century. We provide enriching educational opportunities through innovative programs and instruction, which are designed to meet the needs of all learners.

Being a part of this educational process is exciting I believe that all students are capable and productive learners, through which they are able to achieve and enjoy many successes in life. The core values I adhere to that help guide the teaching and learning journey at LHS include: strength in character, respect, indomitable spirit, courage, self-sacrifice and perseverance.

Every day at Loveland High School is a wonderful educational journey- experiences that last a lifetime. I have dedicated over twenty years of my life to the success of students and look forward to continuing to help them succeed through their learning journey-educating for the 21st Century.
Glenda Bates
Assistant Principal, 11th grade discipline and attendance

Ms. Bates has been in education for 23 years. She most recently was assistant principal/athletic director at Century Middle School in the Adams 12 School District. Ms. Bates started her career as a special education teacher and later, a science teacher, in Adams 12 and has served in administration in the Adams 12 School District in various capacities since 2002. She received her Masters degrees in Counseling and Administration, both from the University of Phoenix.

Ms. Bates is extremely excited to be a part of the Loveland High School Staff. The tradition that staff and students portray everyday allows LHS to be the best high school in the district and she can’t wait to become a lasting part of that tradition.

Outside of school, Ms. Bates loves to travel and she is very passionate about softball. She cherishes the times she can be walking near a mountain stream or watching the sunset on the beach. She is an NCAA college softball official and feels very fortunate about the opportunities that this endeavor has given her.

Today is a gift, I will honor it by fully living in it.”

Deanna Dykstra
Assistant Principal, 10th Grade Attendance and Discipline

This is my ninth year at LHS!  After teaching Spanish for 18 years, I am excited to serve as an assistant principal. I will continue as the International Baccalaureate Coordinator as well. I love seeing what students and teachers create when given the tools and freedom to explore their own learning.

On a personal note, I am a third-generation Coloradoan. I’ve lived in Monterey, CA and Brookings, SD, but the Rocky Mountains are home. I love to bake, cook, knit and travel, especially to Spanish-speaking countries. I also enjoy spending my free time with my son, niece and dog.

Marc Heiser
Assistant Principal, 9th Grade Attendance and Discipline

My name is Marc Heiser and I am honored to be the new Assistant Principal here at LHS. I will be working primarily with our incoming ninth graders this year. My wife and I have lived in Fort Collins for the past two years, moving from Phoenix, AZ to live the dream. We enjoy hiking and snowshoeing and I am a member of Larimer County Search and Rescue.

I served as Dean of Students at Heath Middle School in Greeley. The previous year I worked as an Academic Advisor for Educational Talent Search, supporting low income and first generation middle and high school students to attend and complete college. In Arizona, I taught high school English for three years, high school math for five years, and spent two years as an instructional coach. As a teacher, I coached softball and baseball, sponsored Student Council, and supervised Title One and our Schoolwide Reading Initiative. I look forward to meeting and working with all those involved who make LHS the great school that it is. If you ever need to talk with me, please do not hesitate to call me at 613-5225 or e-mail me at marc.heiser@thompsonschools.org.

Karen Hamilton
Administrative Secretary

Welcome to Loveland High School! I enjoy my position as Administrative Assistant to the five principals here at Loveland High. I have been at LHS for 18 years and love meeting our families and working with the best staff in Northern Colorado!

I enjoy any outdoor activity…particularly gardening, hiking, and cross country skiing.

I look forward to meeting you!

I enjoy meeting and helping the families of Loveland High School!

Toni Morgan
Athletic Secretary

Hi, my name is Antoinette Morgan, but everyone knows me as Toni. I am new to the Loveland area and school district, but have over 20 years experience working in various school districts.

I truly love being the Athletic Secretary here at Loveland High School, not just because everyone has made me feel so welcome, but also because I love being around and supporting young people as they do all they can to transition into adulthood.

I spend most of my spare time with my husband, watching our 11 year old son play sports. When I can get a break from that, I love to read, watch movies and travel. My real passion is singing, so when I can, I spend time singing with various groups around town. I’m not a very good cook, but I love to bake and I have mastered the art of eating!

I look forward to meeting all of you, and promise to work hard to “BE LOVELAND and BE THE BEST!
