The newspaper staff publishes the LHS Smoke Signal, a student-run newspaper.

The LHS newspaper staff is a group of gifted individuals who meet daily. To become a part of the Newspaper staff, one must go through a rigirous application and interview process; Introduction to Journalism is highly recoomended for writers, photographers must complete the Photography 1 course before you may apply.

Students may apply for the following positions: reporter, photographer, page editor, graphics editor, business manager, editor-in-chief, or on-line editor. Share a unique learning environment as students learn to produce a newspaper.
Students use Microsoft Word for word processing, Adobe Photoshop for image manipulation, and Adobe InDesign for desk-top publishing.
