AP Chemistry

The AP Chemistry course is designed to be the equivalent of the general chemistry course usually taken during the first college year.

Advanced Placement Course Description: Chemistry

AP chemistry is a hard course, drawing only those who don’t care about their grade point average, or those who really like chemistry. During this year-long course, students learn, in more detail than their high-school chemistry course gave, about the structure and states of matter, reactions, and descriptive and laboratory chemistry. At the end of the year, the students take the AP Examination in Chemistry. In 185 minutes, the students are challenged to get a four or a five on a test that could save them from having to take a first-year college chemistry course. The test is broad-based and comprehensive, yet many LHS students do well. Students must work together and share knowledge in order to finish experiments in class. But through it all, the students are working to advance themselves into the wide world of science!
