Science Department Mission Statement
Science education cultivates a natural curiosity that leads to investigations and interpretations about one’s environment.
Our science curriculum provides academic content in a multi-disciplinary and problem-solving approach. The curriculum fosters an appreciation for science and its technological applications and shows relevancy to everyday life.
Science develops habits of mind which enhance long-term employment prospects and are essential for enabling students to become responsible, informed decision makers and lifelong learners. A strong foundation in science will allow full and thoughtful participation in building our society and sustaining economic vitality in a global economy.
Science is so pervasive in our society that a general education would be incomplete without it. An understanding of physical and natural events enriches the lives of people of all ages.
Science integrates the use of higher level thinking skills across disciplines and in new situations.
Our standards address the needs of the career and academic pathways for our district’s diverse student population.
